Thailand's Ministry of Culture discussed with Comité Colbert advancing cooperation in arts, crafts, and artisan work between Thailand and France.
On 21 May 2026 at 15:00 local time in the French Republic, a delegation from Thailand's Ministry of Culture, led by Mr. Prasop Riangngern, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Ms. Yutika Isarangkul Na Ayuthaya, Director-General of the Department of Cultural Promotion, and Ms. Urusaya Insuksri, Assistant Permanent Secretary, met with representatives from France's Comité Colbert, Ms. Bénédict Epinay and Mr. Laurent Dhennequin, to exchange approaches on promoting arts, crafts, and craftsmanship—key foundations of the cultural heritage and creative industries of both countries.
During the talks, the Thai side presented methods to support Thai artisans through a cultural heritage registration system, honoring artists and master craftsmen, creating a centralized database, and integrating cooperation with various agencies to sustainably develop and enhance the capabilities of Thai entrepreneurs and artisans.
Both parties agreed on the importance of inspiring younger generations to value and take greater interest in craftsmanship. The French side shared their experience through the “Les Deuxmains du Luxe 2025” event, which provides opportunities for youth and the public to learn from and practice directly with expert artisans.
Additionally, they exchanged ideas on future cooperation, including artisan exchanges, organizing cross-cultural demonstration events, creating spaces for cultural dialogue and creative exchange, and linking Thai artists in France with Comité Colbert’s network to promote knowledge sharing and collaborative creations.
This discussion marks a significant step in advancing collaboration in arts, crafts, and the creative industries between Thailand and France, which will help promote cultural heritage, develop the creative economy, and elevate the soft power of both countries on the international stage sustainably.
