Smooth Progress for Year 70: Department of Rural Roads Accelerates Expansion of Ayothaya 3046 Road Connecting Wang Noi-Bang Pa-in, 75% Complete

The Department of Rural Roads is enhancing economic opportunities in industry and transportation for the upper central region by expanding Ayothaya 3046 Road in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, connecting Wang Noi and Bang Pa-in districts. The project is progressing faster than planned, aiming to develop regional infrastructure for smoother mobility and sustainable improved living conditions for the people, with completion expected in 2027.

The Department of Rural Roads is accelerating the expansion of Ayothaya 3046 Road between Wang Noi and Bang Pa-in to four lanes, with full operation expected by 2027.

Mr. Pichet Hunsiri, Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads (DRR), revealed that the Department of Rural Roads (DRR) continues to develop infrastructure across all regions to make travel more convenient and safer for the public. The department aims to help reduce transportation costs and strengthen the transport economic sector to operate efficiently. Currently, DRR is undertaking the construction of Ayothaya 3046 rural highway, connecting Highway 309 intersection to Ban Taling Chan in Wang Noi and Bang Pa-in districts of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province.

The need for this road expansion arises because Ayothaya 3046 rural highway experiences daily traffic exceeding 12,000 vehicles, including cars, passenger buses, and heavy trucks, causing road deterioration and travel inconvenience. Additionally, it is a key route connecting Wang Noi and Bang Pa-in districts, starting at Highway 309 and ending at Highway 3056. Currently, it is a two-lane asphalt road with narrow lanes, prompting DRR to undertake the road expansion project.

A budget of 619 million baht is allocated to expand the road to four lanes over a length of 7.25 kilometers.

The construction project starts at kilometer 0+000 and extends to kilometer 7+250, covering a total distance of 7.250 kilometers, with a budget of 619.6 million baht. The construction details include:

  • Expanding the pavement from two lanes to four lanes (reinforced concrete pavement) including shoulders.

  • Constructing four U-turn bridges and one canal crossing bridge.

  • Installing drainage systems, lighting, and traffic signs for safety.

Progress has reached 75%, ahead of schedule, with opening expected in 2027.

Currently, construction progress exceeds 75%, ahead of planned schedule. Ongoing work includes road structure, reinforced concrete pavement, excavation and concrete lining of irrigation canals, and lighting installation. The project budget is 619.6 million baht. When fully operational in 2027, the road will play a significant role in driving economic growth in the upper central region.

During construction, DRR strictly enforces contractors to install warning signs, traffic lights, and safety equipment to protect workers and nearby residents. The department also emphasizes PM2.5 dust reduction measures by increasing watering frequency, properly storing construction materials, and inspecting vehicles, machinery, and equipment to prevent pollution affecting local communities.
