
The Ministry of Digital Economy revealed that daily losses from scammers have dropped to 25 million baht. It is preparing to enforce new ministerial regulations on 12 Aug 2026 to support the Anti-Money Laundering Office in refunding cybercrime victims more quickly without needing court orders.

The text appears incomplete here. has assigned Ms. Nan Boonthida Somchai, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DE) to chair the 2/2026 meeting of the Committee for the Prevention and Suppression of Technology Crimes under Section 13 of the Emergency Decree. Mr. Patchara Anantasillapakul, Permanent Secretary of DE, and related agencies attended at the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society building.
Ms. Nan Boonthida said the meeting reviewed progress of various agencies' measures to prevent and suppress online crimes. They acknowledged a report from the Royal Thai Police on scam-related losses, showing an average daily loss decrease from 100 million baht to 25 million baht, reflecting the impact of accelerated prevention and suppression efforts.
Additionally, they monitored the refund procedures under the 2026 ministerial regulation on refunds for victims of technology crimes (Section 8/1 paragraph four and Section 8/2 paragraph three), published in the Royal Gazette on 14 May 2026, which will take effect 90 days after publication, on 12 Aug 2026.
This regulation will facilitate faster and more convenient refunds to victims by reducing procedural steps, allowing the Anti-Money Laundering Office's Transaction Committee to refund victims without waiting for court orders. The AML Office will expedite preparation of refund processes and clear criteria to assist the public once the regulation takes effect.
“The Ministry of Digital Economy and related agencies prioritize accelerating refunds to victims to alleviate hardships caused by “scammers.” We will carefully and thoroughly review the processes to ensure readiness when the regulation becomes effective,” said the Deputy Minister of Digital Economy.
