The Department of Rural Roads is expediting construction of Rural Road No. 3006 in Ayutthaya, currently 19% complete and expected to finish in 2028. This will upgrade agricultural product transportation and serve as a bypass to Suphanburi and Nakhon Pathom.
Mr. Phichit Hunsiri, Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads (DRR). He revealed that to strengthen the rural road network's capacity for comprehensive connectivity, the DRR has undertaken construction of Rural Road No. 3006 in Lat Bua Luang and Bang Sai districts of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. Upon completion, this route is expected to become a logistics corridor with increasing traffic volumes of both cars and trucks, which will impact road conditions accordingly.
To support the upper central region’s logistics transport sector and accommodate future traffic growth, enabling efficient travel between districts and provinces, as well as sustainably alleviating difficulties for local road users, the DRR has launched the construction project for Rural Road No. 3006.
Regarding current progress (latest data), overall construction has advanced over 19%, currently focusing on subgrade structure works and reinforced concrete pavement. It is expected to be fully completed and open for public use by 2028.
According to the Department of Rural Roads, the project begins at kilometer marker 5+652 and ends at kilometer 20+941, totaling 15.289 kilometers, with a construction budget of 899.89 million baht. Construction details include:
Building a reinforced concrete road with 2 to 4 lanes.
Installing road shoulders, medians, and drainage systems.
Setting up lighting systems and traffic signs for safety.
Constructing three new bridges.
Widening four existing bridges.
Current progress shows over 19% of construction completed, now working on subgrade structure and reinforced concrete pavement, with full completion and public opening expected by 2028.
Once completed, the project will not only enhance infrastructure development and improve safety efficiency, but also boost the economic potential of agricultural and fishery product transport—such as rice and shrimp—in the area. This contributes to raising standards of living, commerce, and industry in the province, as well as improving connectivity for residents accessing government offices.
For example, it will facilitate access to facilities like Phaya Banlue Health Promoting Hospital and the Phaya Banlue Subdistrict Administrative Organization, among others. Additionally, this route can serve as an alternative bypass for travel between Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province and the provinces of Suphanburi and Nakhon Pathom.
