Urgent! Finance Ministry Warns 340,000 Existing Merchants to Confirm Participation in “Thai Chuey Thai Plus” Starting 1 June

The Ministry of Finance warns over 340,000 existing merchants to urgently confirm their participation via the “Tung Ngern” application to join “Thai Chuey Thai Plus,” ensuring readiness to accept payment scans starting 1 June 2026.

Mr. Lawaron Saengsanit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, reported on the progress of the “Thai Chuey Thai Plus 60/40” program. He stated that so far, a total of 1.04 million operators have registered for the program, including 69,582 new merchants and 977,000 existing merchants.

The latest data shows that among existing merchants, 693,000 have successfully confirmed participation, but over 340,000 have yet to confirm. The Ministry of Finance therefore urges those merchants to urgently complete confirmation through the “Tung Ngern” app to ensure the system is ready to accept payment scans nationwide from 1 June 2026 onward.

Statistics on merchants participating in “Thai Chuey Thai Plus”

Registration data reveals the top three types of merchants showing the most interest in joining are:

• Restaurants and beverage outlets, totaling 595,139 merchants.
• General stores, totaling 274,334 merchants.
• Thong Fah shops, totaling 160,702 merchants.

Additionally, by region, the Northeast has the highest number of participating merchants with 203,407 stores, followed by Bangkok with 156,144 stores and the metropolitan area with 153,028 stores. This aligns with the government's past policy to distribute income fairly to small businesses and street food vendors across regions.

How to confirm participation and the registration timeline

The Ministry of Finance continues to accept merchant registrations, divided into the following groups:

• Existing merchants (from the Khon La Khrueng Plus program) can register and accept terms via the “Tung Ngern” app until the program ends.
• New merchants can prepare documents and visit Krung Thai Bank branches to apply for program approval until 31 July 2026.
• For restaurants and beverage outlets using delivery platforms, registration and system linkage through the “Tung Ngern” app will open from 10 June 2026 onward.

The Thai Chuey Thai Plus program is a key measure building on previous economic stimulus initiatives, aiming to ease living costs for citizens and boost liquidity for small merchants in the economy.
