DE Confirms Truth: Thai Chuay Thai Plus Does Not Send Income Data from Tung Ngern App to Revenue Department for Retroactive Tax Collection

The Digital Economy (DE) ministry confirms the news is true that "Thai Chuay Thai Plus does not send income data from the 'Tung Ngern' app to the Revenue Department for retroactive tax collection," and urges the public to choose to believe and share only official information and data.

Mr. Vethawong Puangsap, spokesperson for the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE), as a permanent official, spoke about the monitoring results and reports of fake news by the Anti-Fake News Center of Thailand (AFNC). This aligns with the policy to prevent and solve security and social issues under Minister Chaiyachon Chidchob, elevating awareness about technology crimes, fake news, and misinformation.

On 3 June 2026, AFNC reviewed a total of 130,460 messages, with 2,054 requiring verification. The channel with the most leads was Social Listening with 2,041 messages, followed by Line Official with 13 messages. There were 17 cases under review, with 10 already checked by relevant agencies. Among these, 7 were of high public interest, consisting of 2 true news items, 4 fake news, and 1 misinformation, including:

Rank 1: Fake news about the Thailand-Cambodia border checkpoint being easy to cross with full vehicle services.

Rank 2: Fake news that the First Army allowed Cambodian encroachment to mine Siamese rubies for sale.

Rank 3: True news that the Thai Chuay Thai Plus project does not send income data from the Tung Ngern app to the Revenue Department for retroactive tax collection.

Rank 4: Fake news claiming that vitamin D from supplements cannot replace vitamin D from sunlight.

Rank 5: Misinformation regarding the State Railway of Thailand suspending 30 social service trains nationwide starting 1 June.

Rank 6: True news reporting over 170,000 accumulated influenza cases with 16 deaths.

Rank 7: Fake news that Thai police disguised as dancers to arrest drug agents.

Regarding the notable news “Thai Chuay Thai Plus does not send income data from the Tung Ngern app to the Revenue Department for retroactive tax collection,” the DE ministry, in coordination with the Office of the Prime Minister’s Secretary, confirmed this is true. The government assures that sales data from the Tung Ngern app will not be sent to the Revenue Department for targeted retroactive taxation. However, if a vendor’s total sales income across all channels—not just from the Thai Chuay Thai Plus 60/40 program—exceeds the minimum threshold set by the Revenue Department, they must file an annual personal income tax return.

Most vendors participating in the Thai Chuay Thai Plus program are small to micro businesses, typically earning less than 1.8 million baht annually, thus not meeting the threshold for concerns regarding value-added tax (VAT) liabilities.

Tax obligations are based on average annual income, not just temporary sales spikes during the program period. Vendors are advised not to worry or believe false rumors circulating by word of mouth.

The DE ministry is concerned about public awareness of fake news spreading on online and social media platforms. Lack of media literacy can lead to sharing misinformation, misunderstandings, damage to property or personal data, and broader social impacts. The public is urged to trust and share only beneficial information released by official agencies and to verify news or website links carefully.

If the public encounters suspicious news or misinformation, they can report and verify fake news via the hotline at 1111 ext. 87 (24 hours) or through the website.www.antifakenewscenter.comLine ID: @antifakenewscenter, Facebook: Anti-Fake News Center Thailand, X: @AFNCThailand, TikTok: @antifakenewscenter, Instagram: afnc_thailand
