
Ms. Nan Boonthida Somchai, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DE), revealed that Mr. Chaichanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, has issued policies to prevent and resolve security and social threats by ordering an escalation in the prevention and suppression of online crime, including blocking illegal social media, pages, and website URLs, particularly targeting online gambling sites and related URLs.
Recently, the DE Ministry has blocked social media, pages, and URLs related to illegal gambling according to court orders and coordinated with platforms. In fiscal year 2026, from 1 October 2025 to 31 May 2026 (an 8-month period), they have blocked a total of 673,699 items—635,717 by court order and 37,982 through platform cooperation (including fraud and online gambling). In May 2026 alone, 78,796 illegal gambling URLs were blocked (68,571 by court order and 10,225 via platform cooperation).
Overall, the Ministry has blocked illegal social media, pages, and URLs according to court orders and in cooperation with platforms during fiscal year 2026 (1 October 2025 to 31 May 2026), totaling 787,899 items—732,521 by court order and 55,378 through platform coordination.
"The DE Ministry has intensified blocking of URLs related to online gambling, especially with the upcoming 2026 World Cup starting on 11 June. Minister Chaichanok has ordered strict surveillance and blocking measures. At the same time, the public is warned to be cautious about sharing content that may violate laws on digital media and social platforms, particularly concerning gambling-related websites and online scams, which may constitute offenses under Section 14 of the Computer Crime Act," said the Deputy Minister of DE.
