NT Showcases Vision at Global Telecom AIoT Summit 2026 Highlighting National Infrastructure Readiness

NT showcased its vision at the Global Telecom AIoT Summit 2026, emphasizing the readiness of national infrastructure to drive Thailand's AI future.

National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT) demonstrated its capabilities on the global stage at the Global Telecom AIoT Summit 2026. Dr. Nattawit Suruttikul, Assistant Managing Director of the Wireless Communication Group, delivered a keynote titled "Building National Infrastructure: Enabling National Intelligence Powering Thailand's AI Future," underscoring the critical role of infrastructure in transitioning Thailand into the era of artificial intelligence (AI). The event was officially opened by Clinical Professor Dr. Soranun Boonbaichaiyapruk, Chairman of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

In his presentation, Dr. Nattawit highlighted the evolution of the telecommunications industry entering a new phase—from simply connecting people via voice, SMS, and broadband to the AIoT era, which links devices to generate data and intelligent AI. He emphasized that AI technology cannot operate or scale widely without "data," which relies heavily on infrastructure such as telecom networks, cloud services, and processing systems for storage, transmission, and computation.

"Many people focus on AI models or applications, but behind every app is a network and connectivity. NT has long built and maintained this digital infrastructure for Thailand, which is now becoming the essential foundation for the country's AI future," he said.

Dr. Nattawit also revealed NT's national infrastructure capabilities, covering all usage levels from end-users to cloud platforms. Currently, NT operates over 4 million core kilometers of fiber optic network, more than 25,000 telecom towers supporting 5G signals, 13 data centers nationwide, and seven international submarine cable systems that connect Thailand to the global digital ecosystem.

Beyond infrastructure readiness, NT has started applying AI technology practically to benefit communities and society. Examples include the Pattaya Smart City and Krabi Smart City projects, which use AI to enhance public services, improve operational efficiency, and manage urban areas. Additionally, NT collaborates on the T3 Connected Home project to develop smart housing solutions that enhance safety and quality of life.

"We have set a three-phase roadmap toward AI leadership, focusing on readiness, AI application and solution services, and building a long-term ecosystem integrating AI intelligence into daily life—in homes, communities, and businesses. The future will depend not only on expanding network connectivity but also on creating value from these connections. As AI becomes a daily part of life, new business opportunities and services will continuously emerge. This marks the beginning of the next growth phase," Dr. Nattawit concluded.
