Traveling in Samui with 100% Confidence: Surasak Inspects Chaweng Beach Highlighting Tourist Safety as Top Priority

Surasak Phanjaroenworakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, visited Koh Samui to address risk points and traffic accidents, creating a friendly and 100% safe tourism environment, reaffirming Thailand's status as a world-class tourist destination.

On 16 June 2026, Surasak Phanjaroenworakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, presided over a confidence-building deployment ceremony at the Strong Tourism Community (STC) and Fisherman’s Village in Koh Samui District, Surat Thani Province, to enhance safety measures and reassure tourists visiting Koh Samui.

Surasak stated that the government prioritizes promoting tourism alongside improving tourist safety. Koh Samui is an important tourist destination for the country, and integrating cooperation among all sectors will strengthen confidence, ensure safety, and enhance Thailand’s tourism image.

This deployment has increased confidence among tourists and local residents through coordinated efforts by multiple agencies in safety management, facilitation, and preparedness to welcome tourists, fostering a safe and friendly tourism atmosphere.

Meanwhile, the minister toured Fisherman’s Village, meeting local entrepreneurs and greeting Thai and international tourists there. He inquired about their impressions and feelings about tourism in the area, fostering a warm atmosphere that reflects care for tourists and community-based tourism promotion.

Additionally, Surasak inspected Chaweng Beach to monitor safety measures for tourists along the shore, reviewed lifeguards' operations, and followed up on safety issues along Chaweng Beach Road, a frequent accident spot for foreign tourists.

Surasak added that the Ministry of Tourism and Sports prioritizes tourist safety, especially in beach and marine attractions, which require effective safety systems, including stationed lifeguards.

Efforts include enhancing lifeguards’ skills and readiness to assist tourists, closely monitoring risk points to enable rapid response in emergencies, and directing relevant agencies to jointly raise water safety standards to build confidence among both Thai and foreign tourists visiting Thailand.

The minister also followed up on solutions for traffic and environmental risk points along Chaweng Beach Road, urging related agencies to inspect these areas and devise improvements to enhance safety, reduce accidents, and reassure Thai and international tourists.

Finally, the Minister of Tourism and Sports thanked officials and all agencies for their dedication and sacrifice in driving quality Thai tourism, building visitor confidence, and promoting sustainable and stable growth.
