Plans include using Big Data to promote Thai agricultural products in the global market, transforming Or Tor Kor into a Smart Market for sustainability.
Mr. Watcharapol Khaokham, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives. He revealed this after delivering policy guidance to Or Tor Kor executives and inspecting the management of Or Tor Kor Market at the organization’s headquarters. As per the policy, Or Tor Kor is an agency under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
It plays a crucial role in linking farmers with consumers and business sectors both domestically and internationally. Currently, Thailand's agricultural sector faces multiple challenges, including economic conditions, war, and climate issues, severely impacting farmers. Therefore, Or Tor Kor must urgently create trade opportunities, increase agricultural product value, and transform into a more proactive organization to lead farmers toward a sustainable future.

Or - Proactive global market expansion. Drive export policies for agricultural products, especially "Thai fruits," through Business Matching to connect farmer groups and community enterprises with exporters, importers, international trade platforms, and major retail-wholesale chains to expand networks and open new markets.
Tor - Removing barriers. Unlock regulations or existing criteria that hinder operations by reviewing and adjusting them to align with current economic conditions, thereby increasing organizational flexibility.
Kor – Data Collection. Apply Big Data systems to systematically collect comprehensive data, from modern consumer demand trends and global market directions to annual agricultural production statistics, ensuring precise decision-making based on the "market-driven production" principle.
The next key goal is to transform Or Tor Kor—from its historical reputation as a premium national agricultural market—into a fully developed Smart Market to raise market and product standards and facilitate both buyers and sellers. Additionally, Or Tor Kor will serve as a hub for transferring knowledge on new technologies and innovations to build Thai farmers’ capacity for sustainable competition on the global stage.
