Sanpetch followed up on the upgrade project of road S.K.3005 at Ban Thung Wang, with construction completed and ready for handover. The upgrade improves travel safety, addresses flooding, and supports Songkhla's urban expansion.
Mr. Sanpetch Boon-yamanee, Deputy Minister of Transport and Member of Parliament for Songkhla Province, along with Mr. Natthaphon Hemphat, Songkhla Provincial Administrative Organization member, Mr. Phait Thanprajasin, Director of Songkhla Rural Roads District, local government representatives, and community leaders, visited the site to monitor the construction and upgrading of road S.K.3005 from the Highway 407 junction to Ban Thung Wang in Mueang District, Songkhla Province. The construction is nearing completion and preparations are underway to hand it over for public use.
This road is a key route connecting Mueang Songkhla District with Hat Yai District and surrounding communities. It experiences heavy traffic, especially during peak hours. Previously, the road suffered from pavement damage and flooding in community areas, affecting safety and travel convenience.
The project, carried out by the Road Maintenance Division of the Department of Rural Roads, uses a budget of 71.99 million baht. It involves raising the road level, improving the road structure, and developing drainage systems simultaneously to systematically address flooding, increase travel safety, and accommodate future urban growth.
Key works under the project include constructing a reinforced concrete rectangular drainage pipe measuring 2.40 by 2.40 meters and 325 meters long; building reinforced concrete drainage canals within the community area stretching 284 meters; and replacing two damaged rectangular culverts to enhance drainage efficiency and reduce flooding impacts in the area.
Currently, the project is over 99.05% complete overall and is undergoing final inspection to prepare for official handover to the public. It is expected to increase travel safety, reduce travel time, resolve flooding issues, and significantly improve residents' quality of life.
Mr. Sanpetch revealed that this road has been a topic he raised and reflected on regarding residents' hardships in parliamentary sessions since the previous term. It is a heavily used route that has suffered from deteriorating pavement and persistent flooding problems. He has closely monitored and pushed relevant agencies to expedite solutions, leading to the current development project.
Mr. Sanpetch stated that the Ministry of Transport prioritizes infrastructure development that meets public needs, especially projects addressing daily life difficulties such as safety, drainage, and travel connectivity. These efforts will elevate residents' quality of life and support Songkhla city's growth. He also instructed related agencies to follow proper procedures to ensure smooth project handover so that the public can benefit promptly.
