Sabida Pleased as OBEC Showcases Khon Nora on Two Continents, Presenting Thai Heritage to the World

Captivating international audiences in central Frankfurt at the Thai Festival in the Federal Republic of Germany and at the Sawasdee Seoul Thai Festival 2026 in Seoul, Republic of Korea, the performances impressed both Thai and foreign viewers, advancing the nation's cultural capital to enhance Thailand's positive image.

Ms. Sabida Thaiset, Minister of Culture, revealed that under the Ministry of Culture's 2023–2027 strategic mission to drive the cultural economy, promote Thai culture internationally, and use cultural capital to build a positive national image, recent efforts have focused on these goals.The Bunditpatanasilpa Institute(OBEC) of the Ministry of Culture plays a key role in sustaining, preserving, and promoting Thai cultural heritage on the international stage. The institute led executives, faculty, and students to showcase the beauty of Thai arts and culture at the Thai Festival in Frankfurt, Germany, from 19 to 21 June 2026 at Roßmarkt, Frankfurt am Main. This took place under the project "Thai Songkran, Renowned Abroad" for the 2026 fiscal year, a continuation since 2025. Over the past two years, the events have been well received by both Thai expatriates and international audiences, reflecting growing interest and recognition of Thai cultural values.


“For this year's event,the Bunditpatanasilpa Institutepresented and promoted intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO, including Khon (2018), Nora (2021), and the Songkran tradition through parades and Buddha bathing ceremonies (2023). These were elegantly showcased to the global community. Additionally, performances included royal Thai dance costumes, traditional Thai dance and music, and creative presentations reflecting the lifestyle and cultural wisdom of the four regions. These attracted strong interest and praise from attendees, both Thai residents in Europe and foreigners alike,” the Minister of Culture said.. The Ministeradded.


Moreover, the executives, faculty, and students of the Bunditpatanasilpa Institute also shared the beauty of these Thai cultural performances at the 11th Sawasdee Seoul Thai Festival 2026, held from 20 to 21 June 2026 at the Cheonggyecheon Stream plaza in Seoul, Republic of Korea, as part of the "Thai Songkran, Renowned Abroad" project for the 2026 fiscal year.This also receivedconsiderable interest and praise from both Thai and foreign attendees.


We commend the Bunditpatanasilpa Institute for bringing performers from affiliated units, including the Faculty of Fine Arts and dance colleges nationwide, to represent Thailand in presenting its identity on the international stage in both countries. They remain committed to the vital national mission of sustaining, preserving, creating, and promoting Thai cultural heritage internationally, continuously building on the country's cultural capital to enhance Thailand's positive image.
