TAT Partners with AirAsia MOVE to Harness Big Data for Seamless Tourism Across Thailands 77 Provinces

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has partnered with AirAsia MOVE to launch a major project that uses big data to create seamless tourism across all 77 provinces. This initiative supports the “Amazing 5 Economy” by leveraging digital platforms to draw travelers worldwide to Thailand throughout the year. It also aims to distribute income to key cities and attractive destinations to sustainably elevate local economies.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibul, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), revealed that TAT has collaborated with AirAsia MOVE, a leading online travel agency (OTA) platform in Asia, signing a three-year strategic alliance to drive the Thai tourism industry through the approach.“Amazing 5 Economy”Specifically, the Platform Economy dimension focuses on integrating digital technology and online platforms to perfectly connect travel experiences between online and offline worlds. This collaboration marks an important step to elevate and transform Thai tourism alongside other aspects such as Life Economy, Night Economy, Subculture Economy, and Circular Economy.

With AirAsia MOVE's extensive regional traveler network and a user base exceeding 17 million monthly, it will be a crucial driver in utilizing big data insights on tourist behavior to support development and promotion of tourism in major cities and popular destinations nationwide. This includes advancing UNESCO Creative Cities and green tourism spots towards a sustainable tourism future.

This three-year collaboration will combine data and digital platform capabilities with TAT’s flagship campaign, “5 Must Do in Thailand,” offering diverse travel experiences across all 77 provinces. The ultimate goal is to create economic opportunities and directly distribute income to local tourism operators, while stimulating continuous travel throughout the year to strengthen grassroots economic growth.

Ms. Nadia Omar, CEO of AirAsia MOVE, added that this strategic partnership with TAT is a significant milestone for the regional tourism industry. The platform is ready to use its regional user base and traveler insights to transform the travel demands of tourists, especially from the rapidly growing ASEAN market, into valuable and accessible travel experiences. This is not only about connecting travelers to local communities but also about generating demand to support Thai operators and promote sustainable long-term economic growth.
