Phattharaphong ordered the Aeronautical Radio to extend the duration of the 30% reduction in air navigation service fees to support airlines affected by the Middle East crisis.
Mr. Phattharaphong Phattharasit, Deputy Minister of Transport, revealed that he has instructed the Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Ltd. (AEROTHAI) to continue measures to assist airline operators amid ongoing unrest in the Middle East, which has impacted operational costs in the air transport sector. He directed AEROTHAI to consider extending the period of the 30% reduction in air navigation service fees to ease cost burdens and improve liquidity for airlines affected by volatile energy prices. This aims to maintain continuity of service and Thailand's competitiveness. He also assigned AEROTHAI to closely monitor domestic and international flight situations, coordinate with relevant agencies, and prepare personnel, equipment systems, and contingency plans for emergencies, with the ultimate goal of benefiting the country and ensuring public safety to drive Thailand toward becoming a World-class Aviation Hub.
Mr. Surachai Nooprom, Deputy Senior Executive Vice President and Acting President of AEROTHAI, added that following the AEROTHAI board meeting on 24 June 2026, the board approved extending government relief measures related to the Middle East situation for an additional two months—from July to August 2026. The 30% fee reduction applies to domestic flights during this period. The credit term for payment was also extended: airlines pay 50% of fees as scheduled, with the remainder due 30 days later. This helps reduce airlines' operating costs, especially fuel expenses. Additionally, AEROTHAI aims to increase air traffic management efficiency so flights optimize time and fuel use, reduce delays, and maintain safety standards on all flights to ensure the country’s air transport system continues smoothly.
