Department of Rural Roads Advances Construction of Chp.4035 Road in Chumphon, Connecting Airport and Double-Track Railway, Expected Completion in 2027

The Department of Rural Roads is moving quickly to build the Chp.4035 road in Chumphon province, covering over 13 kilometers. This road will connect land, rail, and air transport to support travel to the airport and the double-track railway station, boosting the efficiency of transporting rubber and palm oil. The project is expected to be completed by 2027.

Mr. Phichit Hunsiri, Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads (DRR). He revealed that to enhance the rural transportation network for faster, more convenient movement and seamless agricultural product delivery to markets across regions, the DRR is committed to continuously developing, improving, and expanding traffic routes.

Currently, in Chumphon province, the DRR is undertaking the construction of rural highway Chp.4035, connecting the intersection with highway 3180 to Ban Noen Khiri in Pathio and Mueang districts. Recent progress shows the project is over 30% complete, with ongoing work on the gravel base layer, drainage pipe installation, and retaining wall construction. The project is scheduled for full completion and opening within 2027.

Once completed, this project will improve transportation efficiency between provinces, districts, and subdistricts, develop logistics systems for the agricultural and industrial sectors, and enable timely delivery of products such as rubber and palm oil to markets. It will also reduce transportation costs and link road, rail, and air travel effectively, allowing people full access to Chumphon Airport and the double-track railway stations, including Saphli, Nong Nieng, and Na Cha Ang stations.

The project covers a total length of 13.520 kilometers, involving the construction of an asphalt concrete road with 2 to 4 lanes. It includes expanding the intersection at highway 3180 at kilometer 0+000 to 4 lanes over 0.200 kilometers and improving two local highway connections at kilometers 1+900 and 7+800. Additionally, safety works are being built in front of a school at kilometer 9+172, along with retaining walls, extension of box culverts, installation of drainage pipes with catch basins, and construction of reinforced concrete shallow drainage channels in community areas. The total construction budget is 164.350 million baht.
