Thailand Digital Outlook 2026 Survey Shows Thai Digital Sector Readiness Rising, AI Tops Usage

The "Thailand Digital Outlook 2026" survey found Thai digital entrepreneurs scored an average readiness of 2.12, up 0.56 from the previous year, with SMEs driving the average score due to increased cybersecurity awareness.

Mr. Wethangk Puangsub, Secretary-General of the National Digital Economy and Society Committee (BDE) under the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DES), announced on 8 Jul 2026 that the "Thailand Digital Outlook 2026" survey on digital entrepreneurs' readiness for the digital economy transition revealed the following.. In 2026, the target group of 834 digital entrepreneurs scored an average readiness of 2.12 out of 4, up 0.56 from the previous year, reflecting moderate readiness. This indicates continuous progress in Thailand’s digital economy transition, mainly driven by increased cybersecurity awareness, especially among SMEs. However, digital product and service development readiness remains the lowest, with particularly low investment in research and development.(R&D)

"Furthermore, analyzing the application of advanced technologies reveals that AI hasthe highest usage proportion,at 21.18%, followed by blockchain technology at 20.09% and big data analytics at 19.88%, with digital service industry entrepreneurs being the most prominent users. However,,a deeper look into AI usage shows that although Thai entrepreneurs are increasingly adopting AI, over 77.02% of applications remain in experimental or pilot phases. The top three business uses for AI are marketing, internal operations, and information technology.
