Good news! The Department of Land Transport announces a reduction of interprovincial bus fares by 3 satang per kilometer due to the decrease in diesel prices, helping to reduce citizens' living costs, effective 11 July 2026 GMT+7.
Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, Deputy Minister of Transport, revealed that as the Middle East conflict returns to normalcy, diesel prices have steadily declined. Therefore, he has instructed relevant agencies to consider adjusting bus fares to align with current fuel prices to help ease the financial burden on citizens.
, Mr. Sorapong Paitoonpong, Director-General of the Department of Land Transport (DLT), explained that with diesel prices now at 34.94 baht per liter, the Subcommittee on Transport Rates met on 8 July 2026 and approved a reduction of bus fares by 3 satang per kilometer per seat. This change takes effect from 11 July 2026 onward.
The fare reduction applies to the following bus categories:
Category 2 buses (Bangkok to provinces routes).
Category 3 buses (interprovincial routes).
Example of fare reduction: For a 100-kilometer journey, passengers will save 3 baht per seat. Exemptions or discounts in other cases will continue as previously approved.
Today's fare reduction is based on a cost formula updated to reflect current conditions, including the Consumer Price Index (CPI), Energy Index, and labor wages, designed to adjust fares fairly up or down as situations change.
This allows operators to collect fares that fairly reflect actual operating costs, ensuring continuous service. It also helps ease citizens' financial burdens during economic fluctuations and encourages the use of public buses, promoting travel safety and reducing traffic congestion. The Department of Land Transport is ready to implement measures that facilitate convenience alongside lowering living costs.
