Phiphat Signs Order to Tighten Control at 6 AOT Airports, Elevate Service and Security Standards

Phiphat signed an order to establish a committee to raise standards at Airports of Thailand (AOT). Pattarapong, the aviation minister, was appointed deputy chairman, ordering stricter controls on services and enhanced security measures to international levels.

Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, announced that he signed Ministry of Transport Order No. 1115/2569 appointing a supervisory committee to oversee service, safety, and security operations at airports managed by Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT). The goal is to elevate Thai airports’ service and security standards to internationally accepted levels, supporting the policy to promote Thailand as a regional Aviation Hub.

The order states that the government aims to promote Thailand as a regional aviation hub, requiring improvements in service, safety, and security operations at the six AOT airports: Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, and Hat Yai airports. These upgrades aim to enhance efficiency, achieve international recognition, and build confidence in the country’s civil aviation sector.

The committee is chaired by Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, with Mr. Pattarapong Pataraprasit, Deputy Minister of Transport responsible for aviation, as deputy chairman. It includes representatives from key agencies such as the Immigration Bureau, Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited, Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Limited, aviation experts, and Ministry of Transport executives, totaling over 20 members.

The committee has authority to supervise and monitor service, safety, and security operations at AOT airports efficiently, propose solutions to challenges, and coordinate cooperation among relevant agencies to raise airport standards. It may invite government agencies, state enterprises, private sector representatives, or experts to meetings to provide information or recommendations as appropriate. The order is effective from 8 July 2026 GMT+7.
