On 8 July 2026, Mr. Chaiyachonok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DES), exchanged visions on the Leaders TalkX 3 stage under the topic "Artificial Intelligence: Policy, Ethics, and Global Cooperation" during the WSIS Forum 2026, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva, Switzerland.
Mr. Chaiyachonok presented a vision highlighting three key points that the international community should jointly promote to ensure AI truly becomes an opportunity for all countries:
1. Build Readiness Through investment in personnel, knowledge, and national capacity alongside infrastructure development.
2. Build Trust By developing innovation together with transparent, human-centered AI governance.
3. Enhance Cooperation through Governance Interoperability So that countries can collaborate effectively despite differing contexts and legal frameworks.
At the same time, support for developing countries should go beyond technology transfer or funding; it must emphasize sharing knowledge, experience, and AI governance best practices to strengthen capacity and enable all countries to play a role in shaping AI’s future together.
“I affirm that Thailand is ready to work with the United Nations and international partners to develop an AI Governance Sandbox. Thailand is prepared to serve as a real-world environment for experimentation, learning, and exchange on AI governance, offering opportunities for government, private sector, academia, and civil society to jointly develop practices applicable and scalable globally. We are committed to sharing knowledge and experience for the benefit of the global community,” Mr. Chaiyachonok said in closing.
