Mr. Sanphet Boonyamanee, Deputy Minister of Transport, revealed after visiting the site to monitor progress and inspect the U-Taphao canal area in Khu Tao Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, that he has ordered the Marine Department to expedite dredging of the U-Taphao canal from Wat Khu Tao to the canal mouth to enhance water drainage and waterway navigation. The Marine Department will carry out this work with a 6 million baht operational budget, dredging approximately 70,000 cubic meters of sediment.
At the same time, he has instructed the agencies to prepare and push forward the dredging project under the 2027 annual budget according to plan, adhering to legality, transparency, and efficient budget use. This aims to maximize benefits for the public in flood prevention and mitigation, water transportation, and improving the quality of life along both sides of the canal, as well as the long-term development of Songkhla port city.
