Department of Internal Trade Partners with BEM to Launch Thai Fruit Festival via MRT Stations

Today (10 July 2026), Mr. Witthayakorn Maneenet, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, together with Ms. Siriporn Kingthong, Director of Asset Management Division, Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA), Mr. Anawat Suwanrit, Deputy Managing Director of Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM), representatives of farmers, community entrepreneurs, representatives from Heliconia H Group Co., Ltd., producers of MasterChef Thailand, and Chef Thiti, champion of MasterChef Thailand Season 7, jointly launched the “DIT X MRT Selling Fruits from All Over Thailand via MRT Channels” event under the festival “Thailand: The Land of Tropical Fruits” at the Metro Mall area of MRT Suan Chatuchak station.

Mr. Witthayakorn said that the policy of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Ms. Supachai Sutthaman places great emphasis on assisting farmers, accelerating the distribution of agricultural produce to consumers, expanding sales channels, and encouraging Thai people to consume Thai fruits. As fruit production has increased in nearly all varieties this year, the Department of Internal Trade initiated the “Thailand: The Land of Tropical Fruits” festival to connect fresh fruit directly from production areas to consumers nationwide through ongoing cooperation with private sector partners. This enables the public to access quality, fresh fruit directly from farmers at fair prices, while providing stable income to farmers and driving the grassroots economy.

“The DIT X MRT fruit sales activity is another important collaboration between the Department of Internal Trade and BEM, leveraging the mass transit system’s large daily ridership as a channel to distribute agricultural produce directly to consumers. It helps clear seasonal produce, reduces product concentration problems, increases market opportunities for farmers, and allows people to conveniently purchase high-quality, fresh Thai fruits at reasonable prices, effectively bringing fruit orchards from across the country into the city center,” Mr. Witthayakorn said.

The Director-General added that the event features fresh fruits from production areas nationwide, including mangosteen, rambutan, salak, longan, mango, coconut, pomelo, banana, pineapple, durian, as well as community products from the “Must-See Market” promoted by the Department of Internal Trade. Sales promotions include an “All You Can Fill” offer for unlimited mangosteen at 59 baht and a special buy-one-get-one-free deal on 1 kilogram of fruit for MRT passengers who show a hanging tag from inside the train cars, encouraging Thai fruit consumption and boosting farmers’ product distribution.

Mr. Anawat Suwanrit, Deputy Managing Director of Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM), said BEM is pleased to be part of supporting this project by providing space within MRT stations, prime locations with high passenger traffic, as a sales channel for fruits and community products from Thai farmers. This creates market opportunities, increases farmers’ income, and offers convenience for passengers to buy quality fruit during their commute.

The “DIT X MRT Selling Fruits from All Over Thailand via MRT Channels” event runs from 10-24 July 2026, 07:00-19:00, at Metro Mall MRT Suan Chatuchak station and sales points at MRT Lat Phrao and MRT Sukhumvit stations. The public is invited to support quality Thai fruits and community products and join in supporting Thai farmers nationwide.
