The Ministry of Culture has proposed to the Cabinet the appointment and rotation of senior executives, swapping positions between the Deputy Permanent Secretary and the Director-General of the Department of Cultural Promotion, while extending the term of the Director-General of the Fine Arts Department by one year to take on new tourism-related responsibilities.
Ms. Sabida Thaiset, Minister of Culture, revealed that the Ministry of Culture has submitted a proposal for the Cabinet to approve the appointment of senior executives within the ministry. This is to comply with the criteria for rotating management positions set by the Office of the Civil Service Commission (OCSC) and to prepare for driving the ministry's mission following the transfer of tourism responsibilities to the Ministry of Culture.
The Minister of Culture stated that this appointment proposal is part of the overall senior human resource management in the ministry, considering knowledge, capability, expertise, experience, and suitability for the tasks of each department. The goal is to ensure continuity in administration, accommodate new missions, and enhance effectiveness in advancing government policies on cultural economy, proactive cultural diplomacy, promotion of cultural tourism, and the international dissemination of Thai culture.
This appointment proposal includes rotating two senior executive positions as follows:
Proposed appointments Ms. Chotika Akkaritkosopakul, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, to be appointed Director-General of the Department of Cultural Promotion.
Proposed appointment Ms. Yuthika Isarangkul Na Ayudhya, Director-General of the Department of Cultural Promotion, to be appointed Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture.
Both appointments will take effect from the date of their royal appointment.
Additionally, the Ministry of Culture has proposed to extend the term of Mr. Phanombut Chantrachot, Director-General of the Fine Arts Department, for one more year in accordance with the criteria of the Office of the Civil Service Commission. This is because he is still overseeing crucial national duties including royal ceremonies and projects for the conservation and development of cultural heritage, which require continuity. This extension will be effective from 1 October 2026 GMT+7.
“This appointment process follows the criteria of the Office of the Civil Service Commission and reflects overall human resource management in the ministry. It adheres to principles of meritocracy, suitability for the position, and the benefit of public service to ensure the continuous and efficient advancement of the Ministry of Culture’s missions. It also prepares the ministry for its new role in developing the country’s cultural economy and tourism,” Ms. Sabida said in conclusion.
