The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) is enforcing the law strictly against those who violate toll gates by not paying toll fees, imposing fines up to 10 times the original amount, and warning those with outstanding tolls to settle promptly before facing maximum penalties.
The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT), under the Ministry of Transport, is moving forward with legal enforcement against expressway users who repeatedly evade toll payments. EXAT warns users who have unpaid tolls to promptly pay at any expressway toll collection building to avoid legal action. They emphasize that law enforcement will be carried out seriously without exemptions for repeat offenders or those ignoring EXAT's notices.
Currently, EXAT is pursuing legal cases against expressway users who evade tolls and ignore EXAT's payment notices, resulting in binding fines under Section 63 of the Expressway Authority of Thailand Act B.E. 2550 (2007). Some cases are in the process of being forwarded to prosecutors, while courts have already ruled on 27 cases requiring payment of tolls and fines, and 28 cases have concluded through court procedures.
EXAT reminds expressway users to pay tolls every time they use the service. Those who pass the expressway without paying should promptly settle their tolls at any expressway toll collection building within the specified period to avoid legal proceedings. After the deadline, the offense becomes a binding violation, and EXAT will issue a notice demanding toll payment plus a fine up to 10 times the toll amount per incident.
Those who receive binding fine orders must pay the toll and fine through the payment channels specified in the notice or at the One Stop Service Center on the 1st floor of the EXAT Administration Center Building, located at 111 Bang Kapi Subdistrict, Huai Khwang District, Bangkok.
If offenders still fail to pay or deny the charges within the set timeframe, EXAT will proceed with further legal action. A binding offense is a criminal offense punishable only by a fine. For inquiries about travel or toll payments, contact the EXAT Call Center at 1543, available 24 hours.
