Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, Deputy Minister of Transport, revealed after inspecting the Klong Tan train maintenance center to investigate the cause of the Airport Rail Link malfunction that prevented normal service this morning. The inspection found a technical fault inside the Klong Tan maintenance center that halted the deployment of trains for normal service, leaving only one train per hour operational. Therefore, he ordered the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) and Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) to deploy SRT diesel railcars and BMTA buses as feeder services to transport passengers unable to use the train service.
Currently, the SRT and Airport Rail Link are having engineers investigate the true cause and await technical assessment results. They advise the public needing to travel to consider alternative public transport options during this period. Initially, if the faulty train units can be moved by this evening (22 July 2026), the number of trains in service can be increased, though it is not yet confirmed if normal operations will fully resume.
As for passenger assistance measures, priority is given to quickly evacuating passengers. Those who purchased tickets will receive full refunds and can use the supplemental BMTA buses free of charge. Additional compensation measures will be considered once the situation stabilizes.
