The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) and Asia Era One are urgently recovering a derailed Airport Rail Link train at the Khlong Tan maintenance center, which has disrupted service today. They have arranged special trains and BMTA buses to transport passengers, expecting normal operations to resume by this evening.
Mr. Anan Phonimdaeng, Governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT). He revealed that at 00:47 on 22 July 2026, an Airport Rail Link (ARL) train consisting of four cars, returning to the maintenance center after completing service on the night of 21 July 2026, derailed the third carriage at switch number 3018 inside the Khlong Tan maintenance center. This blocked the entry and exit routes of the Airport Rail Link system, preventing trains from returning to service on the Phaya Thai–Suvarnabhumi route. Authorities are currently conducting a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause.
To minimize the impact on public travel, the SRT has coordinated with relevant agencies to implement the following measures.
Deploy seven special trains (third-class diesel railcars and air-conditioned coaches) covering the Lat Krabang–Makkasan–Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) route.
Arrange BMTA buses to shuttle passengers between Suvarnabhumi Airport (Level 2, Gate 9) and the Airport Rail Link Makkasan Station (lower level) to quickly clear passenger backlogs.
The SRT and Asia Era One expect the Airport Rail Link system to resume normal service by this evening if repairs proceed as planned. Should normal service remain unavailable, additional special trains and BMTA buses will operate throughout the day to handle peak demand.
Additionally, staff have been stationed at every station to assist, provide information, and continuously update passengers on travel routes. They are closely monitoring the situation and service performance, aiming to resume normal operations by this evening if plans proceed accordingly.

Mr. Anan stated that the SRT has been instructed by the Deputy Minister of Transport to coordinate with all relevant agencies to swiftly resolve the disruption and resume service as soon as possible, prioritizing maximum safety. He emphasized that all staff must fully assist and facilitate passengers to minimize inconvenience.
