The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), together with Major Cineplex, has launched a campaign called "Thai Thai Travel Following Movies" inviting people to follow the trail of Thai movie filming locations, promoting soft power to distribute income to secondary cities, with chances to win free accommodation and movie tickets.
Mr. Narut Jiansanong, Chief Advertising Officer of Major Cineplex Group Public Company Limited, revealed that Major Cineplex is ready to be a key driver supporting the growth of the Thai film industry as a form of soft power to attract revenue into the country. Films are a powerful entertainment medium that easily reach people and naturally showcase Thailand’s arts, culture, food, and tourist attractions.
“We want to invite movie lovers and travelers to be ambassadors, proudly showing the beauty of Thai filming locations to the world, inspiring people to pack their bags and experience these places firsthand,”said Mr. Narut.
On the other hand, Mr. Nithi Seephae, Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications at the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), stated that this collaboration is a new marketing approach targeting movie enthusiasts. TAT aims for this campaign to boost domestic travel, especially distributing income to "attractive cities" or secondary cities where Thai films have been shot, which hold many hidden scenic beauties.
“Every photo and social media check-in by tourists will be a crucial gear turning on-screen trends into real journeys, sustainably stimulating the overall tourism economy,” emphasized Mr. Nithi.
The campaign runs for three months, from 22 July to 20 September 2026, with participation conditions as follows:

Post a photo of yourself at any Thai movie filming location in various provinces (e.g., following the trail of "Wonder Wan Thong" in Suphanburi or "Thi Yod" in Kanchanaburi).

Participants have the chance to win 3 accommodation prizes across 3 provinces and 300 free movie tickets (totaling 600 seats).
