The Department of Business Development revealed that over 200 people have purchased the "Thai Help Thai Franchise Plus" program. The government subsidizes 50% of the capital, up to 10,000 baht, and grants six months of free selling space.
Mr. Poonpong Nainapakorn, Director-General of the Department of Business Development, reported on the progress of the “Thai Help Thai Franchise Plus” project, which has allowed people to start businesses through franchises since July 2026. So far, over 200 people have joined the program, selecting from over 100 brands curated by the department, with investments not exceeding 100,000 baht. Participants can also apply for the “Thai Help Thai Plus 60/40” project to receive additional benefits, helping create jobs and income and ensuring business growth opportunities. The department has continuously developed and promoted franchise businesses over recent years, resulting in 695 Thai franchises in the system, generating an economic value exceeding 200 billion baht annually.
“The franchise system helps reduce investment risks for buyers because it offers a clear business model. Investors do not have to experiment themselves since the model has already been proven successful by the owners. Additionally, equipment is prepared, and teams provide both theoretical and practical training before opening. Clear manuals and operational procedures make it easier to control product quality.”
Furthermore, franchises are already well-known brands, boosting consumer confidence and attracting customers from day one. Franchise buyers save significantly on marketing costs and have advisors throughout their business journey, as brand owners act as mentors and provide business and financial management guidance. This increases growth opportunities and easier access to financing, as financial institutions tend to approve loans more readily for franchise buyers of established brands than for new or unknown businesses.
/The “Thai Help Thai Franchise Plus” projectinvolves the government subsidizing 50% of the franchise startup package value, up to 10,000 baht per person. If funds are insufficient, Krung Thai Bank, the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank (SME D Bank), and the Government Savings Bank offer special interest loans, while the Small Industry Credit Guarantee Corporation provides loan guarantees.
Additionally, participants receive rights to use free sales space in Lotus and Makro branches nationwide for six months, covering more than 2,000 branches and over 10,000 points across the country. The Thai Fresh Market Association, with over 100 member markets, also supports additional selling space for entrepreneurs.
