Deputy Minister of Digital Economy and Society revealed plans to submit to the cabinet an amendment to the 90-year-old Postal Act to support Thailand Post in competing with foreign delivery platforms. Thailand Post reported first-half 2026 revenue surpassing 11 billion baht and unveiled plans to compete in the digital economy.
Ms. Nan Boonthida Somchai, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DE). She said at the POSTsible Next press conference on 3 Aug 2026 that the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society is reviewing a draft amendment to the Postal Act B.E. 2477 (1934), which has been in effect for over 90 years, to propose to the Cabinet. “We must acknowledge some inertia in submitting the amendment, but fundamentally, the draft has not changed from the previous government’s version.”
This legal reform is a key approach to creating fair competition for Thailand Post, especially by enabling it to be a viable delivery option on e-marketplace platforms, which currently often require buyers to use logistics companies within their own foreign-owned networks.
The core content of the new Postal Act draft includes regulating all delivery service providers to register their businesses properly and clearly categorizing services, such as social services in remote areas versus commercial services.
Mr. Danan Supattapan, CEO and Managing Director of Thailand Post Co., Ltd. He revealed that in the first half of 2026, Thailand Post’s accumulated revenue reached 11.36825 billion baht despite facing rising oil prices impacting costs directly. Logistics services generated 5.836 billion baht, accounting for 51.33%, growing 8% due to market expansion and capturing market share from foreign logistics providers. Postal services accounted for 34.92%, and international services 7.86%. In 2025, Thailand Post’s total revenue was 22.17257 billion baht with a net profit of 120 million baht. EMS, celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2026, remains the organization’s core service. In 2025, EMS revenue was 9.57082 billion baht, and in the first half of 2026, revenue grew 2.98% with volume increasing 1.90% year-on-year, reflecting customer confidence and e-commerce growth. EMS revenue is expected to exceed 10 billion baht in 2026.
To address changes in the digital economy and technology, Thailand Post has launched the RelationSHIFT strategy as its organizational plan for 2026–2027, based on three main approaches:
