TAT Partners with TransNusa and Traveloka to Boost Indonesian Tourists by 2026

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) advances its ASEAN market strategy by signing a historic MOU with TransNusa Airline and Traveloka in central Jakarta to launch new direct routes from Jakarta to Suvarnabhumi and Bali to Phuket. The campaign targets affluent travelers and Muslim tourists, confidently aiming to exceed 890,000 Indonesian visitors by 2026.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), stated that Indonesia is one of the top five key tourism markets in ASEAN. During the official visit of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to Indonesia, TAT signed two tourism MOUs with Datuk Bernard Francis, CEO of TransNusa Group, and Mr. Albert, co-founder of Traveloka, at the Fairmont Hotel in Jakarta, witnessed by the Prime Minister and his cabinet.

This collaboration focuses on expanding new direct flight routes and increasing flight frequencies, including:

  • Jakarta - Suvarnabhumi route. The inaugural flight service will commence on 6 August 2026, offering two flights daily.
  • Bali - Phuket route. The inaugural flight service will start on 9 September 2026.
  • Private Jet Services. TransNusa is ready to offer private jet services catering to the high-spending segment of tourists.

Moreover, the partnership with Traveloka, a popular travel platform in ASEAN, will enhance digital marketing efforts to reach independent travelers (FIT), families, and Muslim tourists through the "Amazing Thailand: Feel All the Feelings" campaign.

To further distribute tourists across attractive destinations throughout Thailand, TAT emphasized its readiness to promote Thailand as a Muslim-friendly destination by highlighting certified Thai cuisine, halal food, culture, communities, health, and long-popular natural beach attractions.

According to statistics from 1 January to 31 July 2026, 376,337 Indonesian tourists have visited Thailand, with an average stay of six nights. TAT is confident that this strategic cooperation in aviation and marketing will be a key factor in pushing Indonesian tourist numbers to meet the target of 890,000 by 2026.
