Anutin and Supachai led the Ministry of Commerce team to participate in the Business Forum in Jakarta, Indonesia, promoting Thai food soft power and quality products under the Thai SELECT brand, aiming to expand business networks and ASEAN export markets with Thai products and cuisine.
On 4 August 2026 local time in Jakarta, Indonesia, Supachai Sutthumpan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, led ministry executives to attend the Business Forum at the Fairmont Hotel in Jakarta. The forum aimed to promote trade and investment cooperation between Thailand and Indonesia and to expand business opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs by promoting Thai products and food and linking networks with Indonesian business sectors. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the opening ceremony.
This event was a collaboration between the Thai Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), and the Office of Commercial Affairs (OCA) in Jakarta, part of the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce. The goal was to connect business networks of both countries, create trade and investment opportunities, and expand the market for Thai goods and services in Indonesia, a key ASEAN market.
On this occasion, Supachai visited the Thai Product Showcase organized by the OCA in Jakarta to present Thai products with strong potential and popularity in the Indonesian market. She met with Thai product importers and local entrepreneurs to exchange trade information and explore business opportunities. The event included cooperation from 10 Indonesian partners: nine food importers and one Thai fruit importer. These partners exhibited quality Thai products at the DITP booth to facilitate trade negotiations and business matching, including PT Sukanda Djaya, KAIFA Food, PT Eakindo Mitra Sastari, Inter Buana Mandiri, Berkah Maju Jaya, InotekFood, Wilmond Indonesia, PT Dinamik Multi Sukses, PT Kartikawira Adisukses, and SHB Group, which imports longan from Thailand.
The event also featured collaboration from four leading Thai SELECT restaurants—Jittlada, Chao Phraya, Thai Street, and Summer House—that presented Thai-style snack menus such as golden cup with pomelo salad, shrimp spring rolls, shrimp cakes, mango sticky rice, pandan layered dessert, luk chup sweets, and fried Thai custard to welcome attendees. This showcased the charm and identity of Thai cuisine and reinforced its soft power potential to add value to Thai products, services, and restaurant businesses abroad.
The Ministry of Commerce, through the OCA in Jakarta, continues to promote soft power policy via the Thai SELECT trademark to elevate the image of Thai food and raise awareness in foreign markets. Currently, 29 Thai restaurants in Indonesia hold the Thai SELECT certification. Ongoing marketing efforts include digital media publicity, Thai SELECT Fine Dining Gala Dinners, inviting key opinion leaders (KOLs) and media to experience Thai cuisine, building networks with local businesses, and organizing promotional activities with major department stores such as AEON, GS Supermarket, Ranch Market, and Hero Supermarket to expand trade opportunities and increase Thai product recognition in Indonesia.
This Business Forum highlighted the Ministry of Commerce's role in connecting Thai and Indonesian business networks, driving expansion of Thai product markets, promoting trade negotiations and business matching, alongside elevating Thai cuisine’s image through the Thai SELECT trademark. These efforts aim to enhance Thai entrepreneurs' competitiveness and concretely expand trade opportunities in Indonesia and the ASEAN region.
