The Department of Internal Trade continues to award the "Gold" label to gas stations that meet the standard fuel dispenser criteria (Fuel Dispenser Verified), assuring vehicle users that they receive the full, accurate, and fair amount of fuel.
The Department of Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce, is steadily enhancing the oversight standards for fuel volume meters by awarding the “Standard Fuel Dispenser (Fuel Dispenser Verified) Gold Level” label to gas stations that meet the department’s standards. This builds public confidence that consumers receive complete, accurate, and fair fuel quantities. The department also pushes for more gas stations nationwide to upgrade and earn the gold label.
Ms. Yanee Srimanee, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, stated after inspecting fuel volume meters and awarding the “Standard Fuel Dispenser (Fuel Dispenser Verified)” gold label to SUSCO, PT, and Caltex Pure Thai gas stations that the department prioritizes consumer rights protection and raising service standards nationwide. This ensures the public receives the full fuel volume paid for and fair treatment every time they refuel.
The “Gold” label is the highest level in the program, awarded to gas stations that correctly and continuously comply with the criteria for two years. Stations receiving this label regularly test their fuel dispensers, use 5-liter measuring tanks calibrated within required intervals, and employ staff trained by the Department of Internal Trade in fuel testing. This demonstrates the station’s readiness to maintain fuel dispenser standards independently alongside official inspections by measurement authorities.
Ms. Yanee said, “The ‘Standard Fuel Dispenser (Fuel Dispenser Verified)’ project is a collaboration between the government and oil traders to raise fuel dispenser regulatory standards. It encourages stations to have self-monitoring systems alongside official inspections, enhancing oversight efficiency and continuously building consumer confidence. Currently, 12 oil trading companies participate, including PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited, PTT Retail Business Management Company Limited, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, Bangchak Sriracha Public Company Limited, PTG Energy Public Company Limited, Shell Company of Thailand Limited, SUSCO Public Company Limited, Sinopec SUSCO Company Limited, Star Fuels Marketing Company Limited, Pure Energy Thai Company Limited, P O Oil Company Limited, and TPI Polene Power Public Company Limited.”
Currently, 7,092 gas stations from main brands nationwide have joined the project, out of 8,234 main brand stations, representing 86.13%. Of these, 2,088 stations have received the blue label, 4,073 the silver label, and 931 the gold label, reflecting operators’ cooperation in tangibly raising service standards.
Receiving each label level is not based solely on application; stations must meet the Department of Internal Trade’s criteria, such as regularly reporting dispenser test results, having calibrated standard measuring tanks, employing staff trained by the department, and not violating measurement laws. Failure to comply leads to immediate removal from the program.
“The Department of Internal Trade aims to have about 700 gas stations with gold labels by 2026 and to continuously increase that number by 2027, elevating the standards of gas stations nationwide, boosting consumer confidence, and enhancing protection coverage across all areas. The department will continue to oversee, inspect, and promote gas stations nationwide to maintain these standards,” Ms. Yanee said.
