TAT welcomes TransNusa's inaugural flight as it expands its route network.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaiboon, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), revealed that on 6 Aug 2026, TAT welcomed TransNusa Airlines' inaugural flight 8B381, flying direct from Jakarta to Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi). The event included TAT executives, airline leaders, Airports of Thailand executives, and the Indonesian Ambassador to Thailand. The new route follows the signing of an MOU to expand air route networks and strengthen air connectivity in Southeast Asia.

Boosting quota by 130,000 seats annually, with plans to open the "Bali-Phuket" route.

TAT and the airline plan to launch an additional route connecting Bali and Phuket to link business and tourism hubs. Currently, TransNusa Airlines operates the Jakarta-Bangkok route with Airbus A320-200 aircraft, offering 14 weekly flights with 174 seats each. The inaugural flight was fully booked, increasing Thailand's seat quota by over 130,000 annually. The partnership includes marketing activities to effectively attract Indonesian tourists.

The Indonesian market is a nearby, high-potential segment. From 1 Jan to 2 Aug 2026, 378,881 Indonesian tourists visited Thailand, averaging six days per stay. Independent travelers (FIT) comprise 85%, with 53% being repeat visitors. Popular destinations include Bangkok, Songkhla, Chonburi, Phuket, and Krabi. TAT expects the new direct flight to attract quality tourists and support sustainable growth of Thailand's tourism industry.
