
The Department of Rural Roads is urgently responding to flooding in Northern Thailand by deploying staff for 24-hour monitoring in Nan province, installing warning signs and big bags, and updating seven routes that are cut off. They emphasized readiness to repair roads immediately after floodwaters subside.
Mr. Phichit Hunsiri, Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads (DRR) He revealed after an urgent meeting to monitor the flood situation in the north that he ordered staff to patrol and closely monitor water levels on rural road networks. Warning signs and flashing lights have been installed in risk areas to ensure public safety until the situation returns to normal. In Nan province, the Nan Rural Road District has deployed machinery, equipment, flood prevention big bags, warning signs, and safety devices to manage affected routes and post flood warnings.
He also stressed continuous monitoring until water levels drop, after which rapid surveys of road surfaces, road structures, and bridges will be conducted for urgent repairs to restore traffic flow. Currently, the Department of Rural Roads, through the Nan Rural Road District, has reported flood incidents on rural roads.
The latest report from the Nan Rural Road District identifies seven locations affected by flooding and impassable, including three roads and four bridges, as follows.
Route Nn.3007 (Intersection with Route 101 - Ban Na Noon, Tha Wang Pha District) water level 50 cm.
Route Nn.3019 (Intersection with Route 101 - Ban Mongkhon Charoensuk, Phu Phiang District) water level 100 cm.
Route Nn.4020 (Intersection with Route 1168 - Ban Huai Son, Phu Phiang and Wiang Sa Districts) water level 50 cm.
Sop Nong Bridge (Tan Chum Phatthana Subdistrict, Tha Wang Pha District) water level 170 cm.
Hua Wiang Nuea - Nam Tuan Phatthana Bridge (Phu Phiang District) water level 130 cm.
Du Tai Phatthana Bridge (Du Tai Subdistrict, Mueang District) water level 80 cm.
Nakhon Nan Bridge (Mueang and Phu Phiang Districts) bridge closed, water level 110 cm.
There are four additional routes still passable but requiring caution: Wang Muang Phatthana Bridge, Route Nn.3026, Route Nn.4020 at landslide points, and Route Nn.4002 at landslide points.
The Director-General also emphasized assistance for affected residents and Department personnel, instructing the 17th Rural Road Office (Chiang Rai) and local offices to prepare drinking water, food, and survival bags for relief distribution and support. The Department will provide ongoing situation updates and urges road users to exercise extra caution. Flood incidents can be reported to any rural road district nationwide or via the Department's 24-hour hotline at 1146.
