The Department of Tourism, in collaboration with public and private sectors, has launched the "Thailand FILMAZING Package" campaign, offering benefits to attract foreign film crews to Thailand. The goal is to establish Thailand as a global film production hub and generate over 10 billion baht annually in grassroots economic circulation. The campaign is now accepting operator participation until the end of September.
Mr. Jaturon Phakdeewanit, Director-General of the Department of Tourism, revealed that the department, through the Foreign Film and Video Affairs Division (TFO), is driving a strategy to promote the foreign film production industry in Thailand by launching the "Thailand FILMAZING Package" campaign. This integrates public and private sectors to provide benefits, special offers, and facilitation measures for foreign film crews.
The package aims to strengthen Thailand's competitiveness internationally and facilitate filmmakers in planning budgets and production cost-effectively. The focus is not only on increasing the number of film crews but also on creating broad economic added value across hotels, restaurants, equipment rentals, studios, and local services, targeting a circulation of 10 billion baht annually in the grassroots economy.
Mr. Boonserm Khankaew, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Tourism, added that in fiscal year 2026, the department conducted meetings with operators and relevant agencies in nine pilot locations, which are:
Surveys found that all these areas have strong infrastructure, skilled personnel, and diverse filming locations. All sectors are ready to collaborate to facilitate making Thailand a premier international film production destination.
Historically, Thailand has been continuously popular among Hollywood filmmakers and leading studios worldwide. Statistics from the Department of Tourism show that in recent years, hundreds of foreign films, series, and TV programs have been shot in Thailand annually, generating direct income ranging from billions to several billion baht each year. The 2026 launch of the "Thailand FILMAZING Package" elevates support measures from tax incentives and cash rebates to proactive marketing promotions combined with local service sectors.
Thai private sector operators in hotels, accommodations, restaurants, studios, transportation, and related services participating in the project will gain opportunities to promote their businesses through the Foreign Film Office in Thailand (TFO) and be featured at major international film markets such as the Cannes Film Festival, London, Hong Kong, and Los Angeles.
The Department of Tourism invites operators nationwide to submit information and apply online from now until 30 September 2026, to jointly prepare and elevate Thailand's film industry towards becoming a sustainable global center.
