He visited the Tourist Police Headquarters and stated that he has issued policies to drive the mission of ensuring safety and facilitating tourists, focusing on adopting innovative and high-tech equipment to support officers' work, enhancing surveillance, prevention, and rapid emergency response.
Integrating technology into security is a key factor in building confidence and enhancing Thailand's image as a safe destination for travelers worldwide.
During this visit, the Minister inspected personnel readiness and launched a convoy of four small mobile operation vehicles (CCOC MOBILE), 32 drone surveillance vehicles, and an additional 128 drones to support aerial surveillance.
These assets will be deployed to support operations at 32 tourist police stations nationwide under the First Responder safety enhancement project, aiming to improve rapid and accurate emergency access.
Additionally, 1,250 smart patrol kits were delivered, including bulletproof vests, reflective jackets, radios, tactical belts, 450 stun guns, and 900 automatic language translators to break down communication barriers and improve assistance to foreign visitors.
Mr. Surasak explained that safety is the most crucial factor in tourism, as travel decisions today depend not only on the beauty of destinations but also on confidence in the protection of life and property.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports is accelerating integration with the tourist police to comprehensively upgrade safety standards and strengthen the 1155 emergency call center, which operates 24/7 and supports eight languages, fostering a travel-friendly environment and boosting Thailand's tourism competitiveness long term.
