The Ministry of Transport has announced three candidates competing for the new Director position of the Port Authority of Thailand, with results expected to be submitted to the Cabinet for consideration by November 2026. Leading candidate Jiraphong, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, revealed his readiness to resign from government service to fully focus on state enterprise management.
According to reports from the Ministry of Transport, after Mr. Kriangkrai Chaiyasiwongsuk completed his term as Director of the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) on 31 January 2026, the PAT board, chaired by Mr. Decha Prukphatthanarak, appointed a selection committee led by Mr. Kritphet Chaichuay, Director-General of the Marine Department, to oversee the director recruitment.
The selection committee opened applications for the new PAT Director from 4 to 28 August 2026. After the application deadline, the process will include verifying qualifications, candidates presenting their vision, salary negotiations, and submitting the recommendation to the Cabinet for approval. The process is expected to take about three to four months, with a new Director appointed by November 2026 at the latest.
The applicants for the new Port Authority Director position include three primary candidates:
Mr. Jiraphong Theppitak, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and a key candidate, shared his decision to join the recruitment. Although he has primarily worked in government service, he believes work methods can be adapted and diversified. Transitioning to a state enterprise role is an opportunity. He emphasized that with genuine dedication, any sector can drive organizational success and bring maximum benefit to the Port Authority.
