The Department of Land Transport advises public motorcycle drivers with registration type รย.17 to have their vehicles inspected at any authorized vehicle inspection center (ตรอ.) nationwide up to one month before the annual tax payment, helping to distribute service points and reduce congestion.

Mr. Thitipat Thaichongrak, Director of the Vehicle Engineering Bureau and spokesperson for the Department of Land Transport, explained that the department has expanded convenience channels for public motorcycle drivers with registration type รย.17 (yellow plates), including motorcycle taxi drivers and passenger transport service providers via applications, allowing vehicles to be inspected up to one month before the annual tax payment due date.

Additionally, public motorcycles with annual taxes overdue more than one year but not exceeding three years can be inspected at any authorized vehicle inspection center (ตรอ.) nationwide or choose to have inspections at the transport office in the district where the vehicle is registered or where the motorcycle taxi stand is located.

This service expansion follows the new nationwide registrar’s announcement regarding vehicle owners required to have their vehicles inspected before paying annual taxes for 2025. The aim is to distribute service points, reduce waiting times, and ease congestion at transport offices.

Steps for preparing documents and locations for tax payment submission

To have a public motorcycle inspected at an authorized vehicle inspection center (ตรอ.), owners must prepare essential documents such as the original or a copy of the vehicle registration book. After passing the inspection, they should follow these tax payment submission steps.

  • Prepare documents Obtain the vehicle inspection certificate from the authorized center along with the mandatory insurance policy under the Road Traffic Act for public motorcycles.
  • In Bangkok Metropolitan Area Submit the documents to pay the annual tax at one of the Bangkok Transport Offices Areas 1–5.
  • In other provinces Submit the documents to pay the annual tax at the provincial transport office or its branch in the province where the vehicle is registered.

Emphasizing authorized centers’ standards and real-time system connection for safety control

The Department of Land Transport emphasized the safety standards of authorized vehicle inspection centers (ตรอ.) certified by the department. All centers are linked to the Vehicle Inspection Control Center (VICC) system, transmitting real-time CCTV footage of operations to allow system monitoring before daily service opening.

Additionally, authorized centers must have complete inspection equipment meeting required standards, such as headlamp testers, brake testers, wheel alignment testers, noise level meters, smoke meters, and gas analyzers (CO and HC), ensuring public motorcycles passing inspection are safe for public service.

The public and motorcycle drivers can locate authorized vehicle inspection centers within a 30-kilometer radius or search for centers in other provinces via the Department of Land Transport’s LINE Official Account "Inspection-Map."
