BDE announced that the TH-AI Passport project has surpassed 1.47 million registrations and recorded 4 million AI command inputs. The agency explained that payments are made based on actual usage and is accelerating the development of a monitoring dashboard.
4 Sep 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Wetawong Puangsap, Secretary-General of the Office of the National Digital Economy and Society Commission (BDE) revealed progress on the project to enhance digital and artificial intelligence skills for Thai people, known as the TH-AI Passport project, a key initiative to enable citizens to effectively access and use Generative AI technology.
As of the latest data collection on 3 Sep 2026, public interest in the project remains high, with notable figures as follows.
These figures reflect the enthusiasm of Thai people in adapting to and learning artificial intelligence technology, which is playing an increasingly important role in daily life and digital-era work.
The payment calculation under the new contract is based on actual usage, with payments varying according to the number of active users. The new contract specifies that "Active User" means "a genuinely creative user who uses the platform at least once per month," with a payment rate of 24.6951 baht per person per month. Active users must engage with the Generative AI platform by completing lessons in the system and accumulating scores each month according to criteria set by the employer. The project's primary target is the general public and AI beginners to promote their ability to "access, understand, and effectively use" through practical trial combined with learning.
The project’s promotional letter was issued on 18 Aug 2026 prior to the official launch on 31 Aug 2026, notifying all government agencies to raise broad awareness. Such communication is standard for government projects aiming to inform public personnel and citizens.
BDE has instructed the contractor to urgently develop a dashboard tracking registration and trained user numbers from 31 Aug 2026 onward. BDE will continue to follow up on this.
