The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) aims for 2026 tourism revenue to reach 2.7 trillion baht, growing by no less than 7%, and plans to boost foreign tourist arrivals to 33 million. Governor Thapanee is confident in an improving recovery trend, while 2027 sets a challenging target of 3 trillion baht, highlighting "Health and Wellness" as a key strength supporting the goal.
Thapanee Kiattipiboon, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), stated that the tourism sector's 2026 goal is to achieve growth not less than 2025 levels, with current tourist numbers and revenue already exceeding the baseline targets. The revenue target is set at 2.7 trillion baht, representing growth of at least 7% compared to 2025's 2.6 trillion baht, divided into 1.6 trillion baht from international markets and 1.1 trillion baht from domestic markets. For 2027, the Minister of Tourism has set an ambitious target to accelerate economic recovery by pushing tourism revenue to 3 trillion baht.
"Although tourism in early 2026 has faced challenges causing total numbers to fall slightly below projections, the latest TAT assessment shows an improving outlook. In a worst-case scenario, if conflicts prolong beyond 5-6 months, foreign tourist numbers would be between 28 and 31 million. Currently, the situation is considered moderate, with expectations to end at around 32.6 to 32.7 million. However, TAT remains focused on pushing the target to 33 million, exceeding last year’s figures. We are confident that in 2027, by leveraging Thailand’s strength in health and wellness tourism, the foreign tourist target will be no less than 35 million, and including domestic travel revenue, total tourism income will reach 3 trillion baht, which should be achievable."
