The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE) together with Thailand Post and the PDPC are promoting the Digital Post ID (D/ID) system to replace traditional envelope addressing. This aims to solve the problem of scammers stealing personal information. The system is already being piloted and is expected to be fully launched by 2027.
Mr. Chaiyachon Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DE). He said one of the key infrastructures that must be urgently developed is the Digital Post ID system, which Thailand Post has continuously developed to upgrade the country’s digital infrastructure and data management to be secure, systematic, and future-ready. A major issue is scammers misusing personal information such as names, addresses, and phone numbers.
The Ministry of DE has integrated collaboration between Thailand Post and the Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC) to drive the D/ID system, enhancing data security in parcel delivery processes, reducing unnecessary personal data exposure, improving convenience and accuracy in identifying delivery points, and laying the foundation for the country’s digital data infrastructure while preparing to obtain the Certificate Trust Mark to build confidence in using the service.
Mr. Danant Supatphan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Thailand Post. He stated that Thailand Post has already started piloting the D/ID system with more than 24,000 personnel and plans to expand awareness and trials to the public. They also aim to extend D/ID usage to government agencies, private sector, and various service providers to standardize and ensure trustworthy address data nationwide. The service is expected to be generally available by the first quarter of 2027.
