The Department of Land Transport has taken decisive action by revoking the licenses of three vehicle inspection centers and canceling the control cards of seven inspectors in Nonthaburi Province for fraudulent issuance of false certificates, emphasizing that offenders face criminal penalties of up to 2 years imprisonment and fines of 40,000 baht.
Mr. Thitiphat Thaijongrak, Director of the Automotive Engineering Division and spokesperson for the Department of Land Transport (DLT), revealed that the Department of Land Transport has implemented control and supervision measures over vehicle inspection centers (VICs) to ensure inspections are accurate, transparent, and strictly comply with prescribed criteria, methods, and conditions. The department has rigorously enforced laws and previously revoked licenses of 87 centers nationwide for violations. Between July and August 2026, several centers in Nonthaburi Province were found to have engaged in fraud by intentionally issuing false vehicle inspection certificates or issuing certificates without actual inspections. Consequently, the DLT revoked the licenses of three centers and canceled the control cards of seven inspectors involved.
Therefore, the Nonthaburi Provincial Transport Office has been tasked with filing complaints and prosecuting all involved parties. Criminal proceedings will be pursued against those whose licenses were revoked and related individuals under Sections 76 and 158 of the Land Transport Act B.E. 2522, punishable by imprisonment up to 2 years and fines up to 40,000 baht. Those revoked will be barred from applying for new VIC licenses for five years, and those with canceled control cards will lose eligibility to reapply for three years.
The DLT spokesperson added that the department has instructed transport offices across the country to supervise vehicle inspection centers by conducting random checks of inspection results in the information system, verifying centers at their locations, and holding continuous onsite and online meetings to brief and warn operators. Any violations of laws, regulations, criteria, or conditions will be dealt with strictly according to the law. The department stressed that vehicle inspections are crucial for public safety, and all centers must perform duties correctly and transparently. Issuing certificates without real inspections or issuing false certificates is prohibited to maintain inspection standards, public confidence, and enhance road safety for all road users.
