Department of Rural Roads Advances Khlong Luang Interchange Construction to Alleviate Traffic, Expected Completion in 2029

Get ready for site work! The Department of Rural Roads is moving forward with constructing an interchange at the junction of rural road PT4001 and highway 352 in Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province. The project aims to reduce accidents, ease traffic congestion, alleviate difficulties for road users, and support sustainable economic transportation development in the metropolitan area. Completion is expected in 2029 GMT+7.

Efforts to relieve the bottleneck at the highway 352 intersection to accommodate metropolitan freight traffic.

Mr. Pichit Hunsiri, Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads, revealed that this project follows the policy of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, emphasizing development of transport infrastructure to drive the economy alongside global safety standards. The intersection of rural road PT4001 and highway 352 experiences heavy traffic, especially during peak hours, from large trucks, freight vehicles, and private cars, frequently causing accidents.

Pathum Thani Province has developed a provincial development plan including this project and has requested the Department of Rural Roads to undertake construction to ease difficulties, improve travel efficiency, and support economic growth in the metropolitan area. The department is currently preparing the site for construction, which is expected to be fully completed in 2029 GMT+7.

Project details revealed: 390 million baht budget with plans to involve the public.

The design of the interchange construction project at the intersection of rural road PT4001 and highway 352 includes the following engineering structures:

• Interchange bridge One bridge, total length 380 meters, with two traffic lanes.
• Canal bridges Expansion of the existing Canal 7 bridge (at km 7+345) and construction of a new bridge over Canal L between Canals 6 and 7 (at km 8+595), totaling two bridges.
• Safety systems work Installation of drainage systems, lighting, and safety equipment meeting engineering standards.
• Budget framework 390.075 million baht.

The Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads emphasized the importance of public input. There are plans to hold a public participation meeting and sign a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the department, contractors, and community representatives in November 2026 GMT+7, to incorporate suggestions for the community's maximum benefit.
