Thai Airways is rushing to resolve delayed luggage issues at Suvarnabhumi Airport caused by heavy rain. The airline has increased staff handling baggage over the past two days and will begin returning luggage to registered passengers this afternoon.
Thai Airways Public Company Limited provided an update on managing delayed passenger luggage, stating that the main cause was recent heavy rain and flooding. This directly affected ground operations at Suvarnabhumi Airport, causing slower-than-normal baggage sorting and delivery processes.
According to statistics and weather data from the past week, Bangkok, its metropolitan area, and the surroundings of Suvarnabhumi Airport experienced severe thunderstorms. This required strict safety measures for aircraft parking area operations, contributing to delays in baggage management systems.
Thai Airways added that to address these issues, the company increased personnel over the past two days to maximize baggage sorting capacity.
Regarding the latest progress, luggage delayed over the past two days and registered with the airline will begin to be returned to passengers starting this afternoon. Staff will contact passengers by phone or email to confirm details before delivery.
Affected passengers can check luggage status and request more information through the following channels.
- Domestic routes: call 0-2134-5373 to 74.
- International routes: call 0-2134-5466 to 68.
Thai Airways apologizes to all passengers for the inconvenience caused by this natural disaster and emphasizes that it continues to expedite handling of delayed luggage to ensure all baggage reaches passengers as soon as possible.
