Deputy Transport Minister Siripong dispatched a convoy of over 160 trucks and boats to provide free assistance to flood victims in Bangkok, central, and eastern regions, while partnering with 25 car brands to offer discounts on repairs and parts to ease the public's burden.
On 29 Sep 2026 GMT+7. Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, Deputy Minister of Transport, revealed after chairing the assignment ceremony and releasing vehicles, machinery, and equipment from agencies under the Ministry of Transport that recent heavy rains have caused flooding in many areas of Bangkok, central, and eastern Thailand, disrupting travel and endangering public safety.
Accordingly, the Ministry coordinated with relevant agencies to mobilize personnel and high-capacity vehicles, especially heavy trucks, crane trucks, cranes, slide trucks, and boats totaling more than 160 units to urgently support tasks including accessing affected areas, evacuating people and vehicles, and supporting rescue units on site.
Data from the Ministry of Transport states this operation integrates forces from the Department of Highways (DOH), Department of Rural Roads (DRR), Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT), and Marine Department, consisting of over 126 heavy trucks equipped with lifting gear and 28 boats, distributed as follows.
Besides government agencies, the private sector has joined the effort. Flash Express has provided six tow trucks.
Meanwhile, 25 vehicle manufacturers and service centers—including BYD, Ford, Honda, Isuzu, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Toyota, and FIT Auto—have introduced measures to assist vehicle owners affected by the floods, both cars and motorcycles. Most offer around 30% discount on parts, up to 40% discount on labor, and free vehicle inspections to reduce costs for the public.
Mr. Siripong concluded by emphasizing that all agencies must integrate closely with local government organizations and rescue units, stressing safety during operations. The Ministry of Transport's role extends beyond managing transport networks; in crises, it must be a key force in rapidly reaching out and helping the public.
