Krob Krua Transport has deployed 26 boats to accelerate pushing water from Khlong Saen Saep into the Rama IX tunnel. Water levels have recently dropped by 30 cm. The company expects to resume passenger boat services within 48 hours, awaiting an official announcement.
Due to high water levels in Bangkok affecting passenger boat services, the latest update is as follows. Mr. Chaowalit Methayaprapas, owner of Krob Krua Transport (2002) Co., Ltd., also known as "Uncle Tua". The operator of Khlong Saen Saep passenger boats revealed that water levels in Khlong Saen Saep remain quite high, preventing normal service resumption. The company has therefore mobilized 26 passenger boats to help push water along the canal, and recently added 3 boats at Khlong Prawet Burirom to systematically accelerate water drainage and improve flow into Bangkok's main drainage system.
The strategic target for pushing water is the Rama IX–Ramkhamhaeng drainage tunnel, a main route discharging water into the Chao Phraya River. This tunnel has a diameter of about 5 meters and can handle up to 200,000 cubic meters of water per day.
Mr. Chaowalit explained that while using boats to push water does not directly remove water entirely, it increases the speed of water flowing into the tunnel, akin to opening a "highway" for the large water mass. Since starting this operation, water levels in Khlong Saen Saep have dropped by approximately 30 centimeters.
If water levels continue to fall and the drainage system operates at full capacity, it will help floodwaters in communities and narrow alleys flow faster into canals and the tunnel system, thus alleviating overall flooding conditions.
Regarding plans to resume normal passenger boat service, it is initially expected to reopen within 2 days, or about 48 hours from now. However, this depends on effective management and lowering water levels in the canal to ensure maximum passenger safety.
