Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt held a press conference to launch “BKK Clean Air 2027: Elevating Bangkok’s Dust Combat Measures,” stating that the city has upgraded its dust control efforts with the concept of “awareness, strict control, and prevention,” focusing on the use of technology and in-depth data analysis as follows.
1. Precise command through a Command Center that links and analyzes critical data from all angles in real time to determine surveillance areas and dispatch operational teams to promptly resolve issues. This includes an advanced dust analysis station in collaboration with Kasetsart University to analyze dust composition and sources, identifying causes to enable targeted inspections and solutions at the source.
2. Deployment of “Environmental Inspectors” integrating personnel from central departments and 50 district offices to proactively inspect and oversee pollution sources according to the law, emphasizing checks on establishments, industrial factories, construction sites, high-risk businesses, and open burning.
3. Encouragement for transport operators and the public to maintain their vehicles and register in the system to help reduce pollution, advancing toward the designation of “Low Pollution Zones” alongside the “This Vehicle Reduces Dust” project, while fostering cooperation to prevent burning with surrounding and neighboring provinces.
4. Timely dust situation alerts and guidance on protective actions, including dust-free rooms and classrooms in Bangkok schools, along with enhanced medical and public health services to care for the public, especially at-risk and vulnerable groups.
