In the final stretch to join the 2022 World Cup draw, Thairath and Thailand Post have created a special buzz. Many people confidently choose a single team, while others select both Argentina and France to avoid missing out.
On 17 Dec 2022, Mr. Srithan Ruamjit, Head of Wiang Kaen Post Office in Wiang Kaen District, Chiang Rai Province, revealed that the target of selling 36,000 postcards for the World Cup results draw in the area has been met with all cards sold out. Football fans have been buying and submitting their postcards at the post office before closing time to ensure they are postmarked by 18:00 on 17 Dec. Due to the large number of buyers, Wiang Kaen Post Office staff have been helping print and process postcards free of charge. Most participants write both team names, waiting for the final match results.
For sending postcards, submission at post offices and post boxes closes at 18:00. For online postcards purchased via the app, the deadline is 23:59 on 17 Dec 2022.
At San Kamphaeng Post Office in Chiang Mai Province, Mr. Prachaya Kaewboonpan, Acting Head of the Post Office, stated that staff have set up booths selling 2022 World Cup postcards "Thairath together with Thailand Post" at the walking street in front of the post office and inside the office. Notably, many tourists, both men and women, including foreigners who love football, have stopped to buy postcards in large numbers. Sales began on 21 Nov 2022 and have now exceeded the target. Sales will end on 17 Dec 2022. The exact total sales will be confirmed after the postcard submission deadline for the World Cup draw today.
“On 17 Dec, the final day to join the 2022 World Cup results draw, the regular Saturday walking street of San Kamphaeng Municipality and post office staff will continue selling postcards until 18:00 or 6 p.m. Afterwards, they will collectively postmark the postcards for collection and send them to Thairath's office in Bangkok. Not a single postcard will be left behind.”
