Social Security Office to Raise Wage Ceiling in 2026, Enhancing Benefits for Insured Persons Across All Areas

The Social Security Office is preparing to implement a "wage ceiling adjustment" starting in 2026 to establish income security and expand benefits for insured persons in all dimensions.

On 3 December 2025 GMT+7, the Social Security Office announced measures to adjust the social security wage ceiling, effective from 2026 onwards, to align with the current economic conditions and labor wage context, as well as to improve the efficiency of coverage for insured persons comprehensively and appropriately amid changing circumstances.

Ms. Kanjana Poonkaew, Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, said that on 2 December 2025 GMT+7, the Cabinet approved in principle the draft ministerial regulation setting the minimum and maximum wages used as the basis for calculating social security fund contributions. This wage ceiling adjustment follows the continuous development of the social security system to strengthen income security and increase benefits for insured persons in all aspects, including illness, unemployment, disability, childbirth, and old age. The increase in the wage ceiling will be implemented in three phases to ensure appropriateness and minimize impact on insured persons and employers, divided as follows.

- Phase 1 (2026–2028): maximum wage ceiling of 17,500 baht, maximum contribution of 875 baht per month.

- Phase 2 (2029–2031): maximum wage ceiling of 20,000 baht, maximum contribution of 1,000 baht per month.

- Phase 3 (from 2032 onwards): maximum wage ceiling of 23,000 baht, maximum contribution of 1,150 baht per month.

From the Phase 1 wage ceiling adjustment (2026–2028), insured persons will receive increased benefits in several cases, including:

- Compensation for illness: maximum 7,500 baht per month, increased to 8,750 baht per month.

- Compensation for disability: maximum 7,500 baht per month, increased to 8,750 baht per month.

- Compensation for unemployment: maximum 7,500 baht per month, increased to 8,750 baht per month.

- Childbirth allowance: 22,500 baht per case, increased to 26,250 baht per case.

- Death benefit: 90,000 baht, increased to 105,000 baht.

- Pension for contributors with at least 15 years of contributions: maximum 3,000 baht per month, increased to 3,500 baht per month.

- Pension for contributors with at least 25 years of contributions: maximum 5,250 baht per month, increased to 6,125 baht per month.

Ms. Kanjana added that this wage ceiling adjustment by the Social Security Office will help align income security with current wage levels and ensure insured persons receive appropriate increased benefits. The Social Security Office will submit the proposal for the Minister of Labour's signature and subsequent publication in the Royal Gazette.
