Chinese Nationals Repatriated by Plane for Third Day After Fleeing KK Park Scam Area, but Numbers Fall Short of Target Due to Suspected Infectious Disease

Chinese nationals have been repatriated by plane for the third day after fleeing from “KK Park,” a scammer zone, but the number returned falls short of the goal. It is suspected that infectious disease cases prevented some from crossing the border.

At 18:00 on 3 Dec 2025 GMT+7, reporters at Mae Sot International Airport in Tak Province, near the Thailand-Myanmar border, reported that Mae Sot district administrative officers, the Ratchamanu Task Force, Tak immigration police, and Mae Sot police escorted 293 Chinese nationals from the Second Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge area at Ban Wang Takian Tai, Village No. 7, Tha Sai Luat Subdistrict, Mae Sot District, Tak Province, to Mae Sot International Airport.

The Chinese authorities arranged a chartered plane from China Southern Airlines to repatriate the first group of 50 people—49 men and 1 woman. The second flight carried 50 Chinese men; the third flight had 48 people—46 men and 2 women; the fourth flight had 46 men; the fifth flight 49 men; and the final flight 50 people—37 men and 13 women. In total, 293 people—277 men and 16 women—were returned to China. The incomplete repatriation is believed to be due to infectious disease concerns.

All these Chinese nationals fled from the Chinese Special Economic Zone project area known as KK Park, an online scammer zone or Ban Eng Ji Miang in Myawaddy District, Kayin State, Myanmar, opposite Ban Mae Gu Mai Tha Sung, Mae Gu Subdistrict, Mae Sot District, Tak Province. This followed joint crackdowns by Myanmar military, Myawaddy police, Myawaddy immigration, and the Karen Border Guard Force (BGF) against foreigners in the scammer area earlier this month, including explosions that destroyed office buildings in the scammer zone.

Additionally, Mr. Yodporn Wichayakorn, chief of Mae Sot customs, took media representatives to observe operations at the Second Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge checkpoint at Ban Wang Takian Tai, Tha Sai Luat Subdistrict, Mae Sot District, Tak Province. This was to monitor border screening by Tak immigration, Mae Sot district administration, Ratchamanu military, and Mae Sot customs officers inspecting luggage for illegal or prohibited items entering the country.
