
Large crowds gathered to join the 5-kilometer walk-run for health organized by Thakhlong Municipality as part of the public health promotion project for the people of Thakhlong.
A reporter stated that on 5 Dec 2025, Thakhlong Municipality organized a 5-kilometer walk-run for health under the public health promotion project for Thakhlong residents (integrated with the campaign "Good Steps, Strong Steps, Moving Together with Thakhlong Run For Life Season 2") at Thakhlong Municipal School 1, Khlong Sam Subdistrict, Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province. Mr. Suthep Wongjaeng, Mayor of Thakhlong Municipality, along with the executive team, led the project.
Before the official opening of the walk-run event, the executives and participants paid their respects in mourning for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.
The event featured a To Be Number One Street dance performance by students from Thakhlong Municipal School 1 and warm-up activities including exercise and aerobic-style movement before the start, with nearly ten thousand participants joining.
The 5-kilometer health route began behind Thakhlong Municipal School 1, continuing along the walking and running path to the end where participants turned right into Erawan 38 Alley, proceeded to the alley’s end, turned right onto Erawan 40 Road, went straight to the end, turned right into the back of Erawan 29 Alley (Baan Suan Thepparatan), then right into Baan Suan Thepparatan 3 Alley, straight ahead, then left to the finish line at the original starting point.
Mr. Suthep Wongjaeng, Mayor of Thakhlong Municipality, said the event’s purpose was to provide the public with knowledge and understanding of health care and how to manage health risk factors through the public health promotion project for Thakhlong residents (integrated with the "Good Steps, Strong Steps, Moving Together with Thakhlong Run For Life Season 2" campaign) held on 5 December 2025 at Thakhlong Municipal School 1.
The project focuses on health promotion and disease prevention through communication and activities emphasizing the 6 Os: exercise, safe food, positive mood, environmental hygiene, health and avoiding harmful habits. The goal is to reduce illness and medical costs while encouraging public participation in health promotion and creating supportive environments to strengthen community capacity for effective health improvement.
Activities included exercise, aerobic dance, and a 5-kilometer walk-run, followed by various learning stations as detailed below.
1. Health knowledge station on Thai population’s distance from chronic diseases (NCDs) provided by Khlong Luang Hospital.
2. Health knowledge and screening station for health conditions, including liver fluke and bile duct cancer screening and diagnosis, offered by the royal mobile unit and the Communicable Disease Control Division.
3. Music therapy station to relieve stress by Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat Institute under Royal Patronage.
4. Dengue fever prevention station by the Public Health and Environment Department in collaboration with Mosquito Company.
5. Environmental management and community waste separation station by the Public Health and Environment Department working with the Local Volunteers Network for Earth Preservation and its members.
